Westport — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Lions scored a 48-39 victory over the Westport Eagles to open the 2012-13 Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference season.

The Lions held a 16-12 lead after the first quarter, but the Eagles rallied to tie the game at 23-23 heading into halftime. The Lions then jumped out to a 34-25 lead to open the second half, but the Eagles again cut into the lead and ended the third quarter trailing 35-32. The Lions then outscored the Eagles, 13-7, in the final eight minutes.
Charlie Hutting led the Lions with 20 points, while Cortland White added 9, Joel Morris 8, Zac Noka-Bailey 7, Hugh Harwood 2 and Justin LaPier 2.
Ryan Davis scored 17 points for the Eagles, while Anderson Gay added 10, Gabe Schrauf 7 and Jonathan Gay 5.
